Inasmuch as Life is borrowed…

World première April 26th 2000, deSingel, Antwerp (BE)

“Inasmuch as Life is borrowed….” is a dance performance with 11 male and female dancers/actors. The musical score is composed by Marc Ribot: mainly known for his work with Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, the Lounge Lizards, the Jazz Passengers ,John Zorn and his own ‘Los Cubanos Postizos’.  The performance also includes a short film directed by Wim Vandekeybus and written in collaboration with Jan De Coster.

‘Nature’s indifference’ and how humans deal with it will be a dramaturgical theme for the creation. Beside this, as a second area of the relationship between Nature and Humanity, the two most important ‘natural events’ in everyone’s life – birth and death – are concerned and will be thematized in the performance on stage as well as in the film which is an integral part of the performance.
